biography
Adam Siemieńczyk (born 1971 in Bielewicze) is a Polish poet, editor and painter. His debut poetry collection, Powiedz mi kim jesteś (Tell Me Who You Are), was published in 2002 in Białystok by Studio Astropsychologii. It has been followed by Pomiędzy (In Between, 2005) and Zakrzyki/Outcries (2012), a collection of poems that won him the UNESCO World Poetry Day Award in 2012. In the same year, he completed editing Piękni ludzie. Poeci mojej emigracji (Beautiful People. Poets of My Emigration), the anthology of poetry released in Warsaw in 2012.
He also wrote a multilingual book for children, Teddy (Miś, Urseto, Der Teddybär, 2013) and has contributed to a variety of publications including Niva, Kartki, Treuburg Post, Poezja dzisiaj, Miesięcznik, The Polish Observer, Cooltura, and Tygodnik Polski. He is the founder of PoEtry London (PoEzja Londyn), a Polish poetry association in the UK, and also a member of the Academy of Slavonic Literature and Art in Bulgaria and La Maison des Artistes in France.
He lives and works in London and Gródek alternatively.
