biography

Jacek Wąsowicz (born 1967 in Świdwin) is a Polish writer and journalist. Since 2011 he has written a column “Kij w mrowisko” (Stirring up a hornet's nest) for Polish Express, a weekly addressed at the Polish diaspora in the UK. It became an inspiration for his debut book, Sto kijów w (nie tylko polskie) mrowisko (Stirring Up A Hundred Not Only Polish Hornet’s Nests, 2013), which was published in Warsaw by Grupa MDM. The book consists of one hundred satirical short pieces of writing that comment on Polish political, social and cultural issues from the perspective of a migrant. A short story Talerz dla zbłąkanego wędrowca (A Plate for the Lost Wanderer), included in that book, won Wąsowicz the Association of Polish Writers Abroad Award.

The author has lived in London since 2002.
