biography

Tomasz Wybranowski (born 1972) is a Polish writer, journalist, literary critic, publicist and poet. He graduated in Polish studies from Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin. His debut collection of poems Oczy, które… (Eyes Which...) was published in 1990. It has been followed by three other poetry books: Biały (White, 1992), Czekanie na świt (Waiting for the Dawn, 1995), and Nocne czuwanie (Night Vigil, 2012).

Tomasz Wybranowski has worked for several radio stations, including Centrum, Puls, TAK and Trójka. He has been running Polish Weekly, a radio show broadcast by Near FM, as well as Irish Polish Weekly aired on WNET Radio online. He has worked as editor-in-chief of Wyspa, a Polish weekly published in Dublin, and has contributed to a variety of magazines including Nowa Okolica Poetów, Zamojski Kwartalnik Kulturalny and Przegląd. He was chosen the Journalist of the Year in 2010 by the Polish community in Ireland.

He has lived and worked in Dublin since 2005.
