Courtney, Polly

biography

Polly Courtney (born 1979 in London) is an English prose-writer and media commentator. She graduated in mechanical engineering from the University of Cambridge. Her debut novel, Golden Handcuffs, was published in Leicester in 2007 by Troubador Publishing. The book is based on the author’s personal experience of working as an investment banker in London. It has been followed by six novels, including Poles Apart (2008), The Day I Died (2009), Defying Gravity (2010), The Fame Factor (2010), It’s a Man’s World (2011) and Feral Youth (2013). Her novel Poles Apart depicts the experiences of a young Polish immigrant in England. It is based on the real story of the author’s friend who moved to London to find a job.

Polly Courtney is a regular commentator, appearing in BBC, Channel Four and Sky News. She writes articles for The Guardian, The Observer, The Independent and The Sunday Times.
