biography

Helen Lynch is a writer, musician and lecturer. Her debut book, The Elephant and the Polish Question and Other Stories, was published in Bristol in 2009 by Bluechrome Publishing. The novel won her the Bluechrome Prize. In 2011, Helen Lynch was awarded the Writers Bursary from Creative Scotland, which allowed her to work on her second collection of short stories Tea for the Rent Boy. A year later, she received the Carnegie Trust Research Grant to edit and translate Contemporary Polish Poetry. Her book Milton and the Politics of Public Speech was published in 2015. She teaches Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Aberdeen and has been a member of the Danse McCabre ceilidh band since 2003.
