Meade, Paul

biography

Paul Meade (born in Limerick) is a writer, director and actor. His debut play, Scenes From a Water Cooler, co-written with David Parnell, premiered in 2001 at the Gúna Nua Theatre. His plays include Meltdown (2009), Light Signals (2010) and Faith (2014). His work Mushroom (2007) focuses on the parallel stories of Ewa, a young Polish woman who comes to Ireland to reconcile with her husband, and Martin, an Irishman who journeys to Bucharest to reunite with his Romanian mother. He directed Little Gem (2009), Goddess of Liberty (2012), as well as Pondling (2013). Meade is also an actor and has starred in many plays for various companies, for instance The Ash Fire (1992) for Pigsback, Hard Times (1994) for Storytellers as well as Four Storeys (1998) and Licking the Marmalade Spoon (1996) for Gúna Nua Theatre.

He lives in Dublin where he works as the Artistic Director of Gúna Nua Theatre and as the Classical Text tutor at The Lir – National Academy of Dramatic Art.
