biography

Agata Pyzik (born 1983 in Warsaw) is a Polish journalist, translator and writer. She graduated in philosophy, art history, and American studies from the University of Warsaw. Her debut book, Poor but Sexy: Culture Clashes in Europe East and West, was published in London in 2014 by Zero Books. She translated Krzysztof Nawratek’s Miasto jako idea polityczna (City as a Political Idea) into English and the works of an American poet James Schuyler into Polish.

She has written for major mainstream Polish and British newspapers, such as Gazeta Wyborcza, Dziennik, Przekrój, Polityka, and The Guardian. She has also contributed to a number of magazines including Glissando, Lampa, The Wire, The New Statesman, The New Humanist, Afterall and Frieze. Pyzik has worked for Bęc Zmiana Foundation, a non-profit organisation that supports artistic and cultural activities in public space.

She divides her time between Warsaw and London.
