biography

Marek Kazmierski (born 1973 in Poland) is a writer, publisher and translator. His debut collection of short stories, Damn the Source, was published in London in 2013. Marek Kazmierski is the founder editor of OFF_PRESS, an independent publishing house, and winner of the 2007 Penguin Decibel Prize. His work involves partnerships with organizations such as the British Council, English PEN, Southbank Centre and the Polish Cultural Institute; he has contributed to The Guardian, 3AM Magazine, The White Review, Poetry Wales and many others. He has translated numerous books of contemporary Polish poetry and prose, and his recent translation of Wioletta Greg's selected poems Finite Formulae and Theories of Chance (Arc Publishing, 2014) was shortlisted for the Griffin Poetry Prize (Canada) in 2015. He has worked with numerous universities, in the UK and in Poland, and helped develop the academic projects eMigrating Landscapes (University College London) and the Literary Piers project (University of Sussex).

Marek Kazmierski moved to the UK in 1985, and now he divides his time between Warsaw and London.
