biography

Paulina Maćkowska (born 1975) is a Polish psychologist, writer and publisher. Her debut novel, Moja Irlandia (My Ireland), was published in Gdynia in 2013 by Novae Res. The book is based on the author’s observations when she moved with her family for a few years to Northern Ireland. It tells the story of a 30-year-old Polish migrant, Maria, who comes to Ireland to be with her fiancé but struggles to settle down in the new, alien place.

Paulina Maćkowska graduated in psychology from Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz and is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Health Sciences at Mikołaj Kopernik University in Toruń. She lives in Bydgoszcz where she runs a Counselling Service.
